Life Air Rescue was formed in November of 1993 when Schumpert's Life Air 1 and Willis-Knighton's Air Rescue merged to begin a trend-setting medevac service for the Ark-La-Tex. Since then, Life Air Rescue has transported approximately 600 patients per year and strive to uphold the highest standards in emergency and critical care transport.
In 1996 Life Air Rescue received CAMTS accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems which is awarded to programs maintaining excellence in air medical transport. Life Air Rescue in the only air medical service in Louisiana with this accreditation.
Since then Med-Trans Corporation decided to expand services and decrease response times to a larger area. In September 2013 Life Air Rescue 2 was placed into service. A brand new Bell 407 was stationed at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, LA in order to better meet these needs. Med-Trans continues its efforts to better serve the community through continued training and preparation.
